FEATURING: Dobell Charcoal Overcoat

I took a little afternoon stroll out with my sister last weekend. It’s always good to have a weekly or bi-weekly date with your sibling to catch up with all things life and that. We decided on a light bite in the beautiful town of Saltburn by the Sea and since it was rather chilly, I wore this wonderful charcoal Dobell Overcoat to keep the chills out. As you know, I’ve become rather close with this brand, I own a few of their suits and am now excited to be venturing into other areas of their fantastic online shop!

This Dobell overcoat originated as a riding coat in the 19th century but now the covert coat is a winter must-have for any elegant gentleman living in the country or the city. Dobell’s charcoal overcoat is a smart, close-fitting three-quarter length coat fashioned from a naturally warm, durable fabric woven with real wool. As is characteristic of the traditional covert coat, their design features jetted side pockets with flaps and a jetted ticket pocket on the left-hand side. It has a single vent at the back and it’s cut with a classic fit that gives ample room for broad shoulders or under-layers. The dark grey charcoal colour is rich and versatile and can be worn with all coloured suits, from petrol blue to chocolate brown. Great for business, evening wear and crisp winter strolls.

Now, I’m always slightly worried when I get off-the-rail sizes from shops as I’m a tall, slim guy… Probably one of the more awkwarder body shapes to fit! This Dobell overcoat arrived in the size 36R (I’d usually get a 36L but this size isn’t available) and to be honest, it fitted fine, the sleeves weren’t too short and the overall look felt super. One thing I wouldn’t normally go for either is the ‘Tailored Fit’, as I’m a slim guy and want ‘Slim Fit’. The shoulders sat great, though, and as I say, the overall coat was great. The only downside about this previous point is having slimmer arms and a tailored fit coat meant they were a little baggy.

All in all this Dobell overcoat was a fantastic quality and certainly did not feel cheap. It has a few little details which are wonderful, such as The hidden buttons, the third ‘ticket’ pocket and the luxury wool collar (which for some reason feels awfully like velvet) a very nice touch! If you’re interested in this Gentleman fashion statement winter jacket, then I’d recommend you take a look at this one. Keep an eye out though as I will be reviewing a few other options in the near future!
