Uppercut Deluxe got in touch and asked if I’d like to try and review a few of their products. As a lover of all things to do with men’s hair, I couldn’t wait to try out their stuff.
Uppercut Deluxe are a modern, yet traditional men’s grooming company. They’re inspired by the timeless style of the 1950’s barbershop and have a really cool backstory. It features two best friends, skatepark design, barbershop apprenticeships and a frustration of mediocre hair products. I was asked to try out a couple of products so decided to go for the Shampoo and Pomade. I thought that this was the most natural way to go… being able to wash my hair and then style it, a somewhat complete Uppercut Deluxe process.
Uppercut Deluxe Shampoo
First up, the shampoo really left my hair feeling positive and product free without damage. I’ve been trying this product for around 3 weeks now and strongly believe that this is all you need when washing your hair. It has a nicely designed bottle and costs a reasonable £10. The ingredients are liquorice, Camomile, panthenol and peppermint, which all mixed together help to moisturise and reduce the oil in your hair, whilst also giving your scalp an energising boost. Furthermore, customers can see or purchase more of the products in the wash range here – which features face wash and conditioner among others.
Uppercut Deluxe Pomade
Secondly, I tried out the Uppercut Deluxe Pomade. I’ve been testing this product for around 3 weeks now and have varied findings from my time with it. Now, my hair is rather thick and floppy when not styled. Therefore, I need products that will be strong and that can withstand any kind of movement. This pomade I found wasn’t ideal for my kind of hair when used alone, it needed other products to help it keep its position. It smells fantastic and feels fine when applied, however, it does dry quite quickly so you better style your hair fast. I came to the conclusion that this product is perfect if you’re looking for traditional, slick back hair. You can apply it and then comb into position immediately. But, for those who take around 5 to 10 minutes to style, this probably isn’t the product for you.
Since trying both of the Uppercut Deluxe products I have been swayed to try more from them. Since trying the pomade, I have in fact ordered some of the Matte Clay to try. This is because I really like the Uppercut Deluxe brand and would love to find one of their styling products suitable for me.
I did enjoy using both of these products and genuinely think they are great. I would recommend both products as I think you should always try a product for yourself. However, be prepared to use with other products… I used the pomade to style my hair in the pictures, but also other products in conjunction.
Thanks very much to Uppercut Deluxe for sending me these products, I look forward to trying more from your range in the future.
